Rev. Dr. Althea Spencer-Miller: "Disordering Order, Queerly" (Sermon for Pride Sunday, June 29, 2025)

Dear Friends,

This Sunday, we'll celebrate Pride!  We're delighted to welcome our beloved friend and colleague, the Rev. Dr. Althea Spencer Miller to the pulpit. Dr. Spencer Miller is a an ordained elder in the New York Annual Conference and is a Professor of New Testament at The Theological School at Drew University. Her area of focus is on oral tradition. She works to decolonize Biblical interpretation, emphasizing storytelling and the everyday lived experience of folks. She brings her whole self to her work and analysis as a Black, queer, immigrant, from the Caribbean. She has long been a friend and co-conspirator in justice and hope. We're excited.  

In addition, our Chancel Choir, under the direction of Dr. Frank Glass and with accompaniment from Phil Hall, will offer three anthems, specially selected for the occasion. And don't forget, we will start worship at 10am!  

Dress comfortably, and if you're planning on going to the Queer Liberation March right after service, wear your sneakers!

Can't wait to celebrate how we are all queerfully and wonderfully made!
